Week Fifty-Two

  • The last book of the Bible completes God's message about Jesus Christ and the coming Kingdom.
  • It was given by God to Jesus (Revelation 1:1) to show His servants things which were yet to happen before Jesus is revealed from heaven.
  • It was made known to John while he was an exile in the isle of Patmos.
  • Given in symbolic language it can only be understood in the light of the rest of Scripture.
  • The early chapters are easier to understand being addressed to the seven churches (ecclesias) in Asia (see map). They contain vital advice for us.

Day 1: Revelation 1 God gave this Book, through Jesus, to teach His servants (verse 1). Are we His servants? If so, we read, hear and keep his word (verse 3).
Day 2: Revelation 2 If we have 'ears to hear' then do we listen to God's Word? (verses 7,11,17,29). Watch for the promises to the faithful.
Day 3: Revelation 3 It is better to be cold or hot, rather than lukewarm believers (verse 150. Which are we? Who are those who 'overcome'?
Day 4: Revelation 5 Those who are Christ's will reign on earth over all the nations (verse 10). Are we Christ's?
Day 5: Revelation 19 Those who are Christ's are covered by his righteousness (verse 8) and will be united to him forever (verse 7).
Day 6: Revelation 21 The 'new Jerusalem' is the Bride of Christ – those who are untied with him forever (verses 2,9,10). But some will be kept out (verse 8).
Day 7: Revelation 22 The Bible ends with a prayer for Christ's return (verse 20). Are we ready for him?
