Choose life – your choice

We make many choices in life. For those living under duress it may be difficult to make the choices you would like. Others appear to have freedom to choose at will.

But there is one choice we can all make. And that is to choose life.

In Deuteronomy 30:19 the children of Israel were asked to make the choice between life and death. “Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life…”

It may not be easy, but whatever our circumstances, we can choose to love the Lord and be part of his family.

As His children, we endeavour to be like Jesus, but we all continually fail. So we are encouraged by Paul:

God's grace has saved you because of your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn't come from anything you do. It is God's gift. It is not based on anything you have done. No one can brag about earning it. God made us. He created us to belong to Christ Jesus. Now we can do good things. Long ago God prepared them for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10. (NiRV)

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11 (NLT)
