Editorial. 3.09.2017. Wise Investment

Those people who have money continually look for ways to invest it to make their future secure. Those who don’t have money have no means to invest in their future.dollar sign on city background

But what if we said that neither of those statements is strictly correct?

No matter how much money you have it will not procure an eternal future. No matter how poor you are, you can still do something about your eternal future.

Meditation. 3.09.2017. Return on Investment.

A couple of months ago in our Sunday morning service we were encouraged by the following words: “To preserve your life invest in something eternal.”

What exactly does this mean?

Well, Jesus put it quite simply to the crowd and to his disciples. His words are recorded in Mark 8 verses 34-38:

Jesus called the crowd to him along with his disciples. He said, "If anyone wants to come after me, he must say no to himself. He must pick up his cross and follow me.

If he wants to save his life, he will lose it. But if he loses his life for me and for the good news, he will save it.

What good is it if someone gains the whole world but loses his soul?

"Suppose you are ashamed of me and my words among these adulterous and sinful people. Then the Son of Man will be ashamed of you when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels." (NIRV)

Some people can find churches rather daunting places. Unfortunately, at times, as followers of Jesus we can come across to others as intimidating.

This should not be.

The reason we have accepted Jesus into our lives is because we know we all come short of the mark. We recognise our need and endeavour to come into a relationship with God and His Son. It is only by their grace that we can have any hope.

Jesus said, "Healthy people don't need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners." (Mark 2:17 NLT)
