A leap of faith
We recently visited the summit of Mt Borah in N.S.W. – world renown for its air sports. While there we had the privilege of speaking with a man about to paraglide off the mountain. We watched as he left the ground and lifted into the sky above the dangerous precipice, eventually disappearing from sight. A leap of faith – faith in himself and his gear.
It is somewhat like our life as a Christian, except our faith is not in ourselves but in God and His Son the Lord Jesus. It can be a leap of faith to become a Christian.
Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists… (Hebrews 11:6)
But if we take that leap we can be assured of the words that David wrote: If I rise on the wings of dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.(Psalm 139:9,10).
