Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens (Isaiah 40:26)
We recently visited the Cosmos Centre in Charleville, Queensland, Australia. There we were able to view the sun through a telescope with different filters as we listened to amazing facts and figures.
In the evening, we again viewed the night sky through several telescopes as we learnt about the incredible universe in which we live. It is so hard to believe that what you are seeing through the telescope is real. The distances are staggering!
So then you might find yourself asking …” So where is God?”
Fortunately, we don’t have to worry about that. We don’t have to know where He is because we have the promise:
I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there.
If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.
I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night—
but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you. Psalm 139:7-12
God’s Spirit surrounds us. We are never alone.
For thus says the Lord,
who created the heavens
(he is God!),
who formed the earth and made it
(he established it;
he did not create it a chaos;
he formed it to be inhabited!):
I am the Lord, and there is no other.
