Why would you want to be a Christian?

Part 3.

In last month’s Spiritual Reflection we looked at some of the reasons our readers have given for choosing to be a Christian. We looked at verses from Isaiah 53 which spoke of the sacrifice Christ made for us and talked about how that makes us feel.

There is another interesting verse in Isaiah 53 which says: “When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied.” (v.11) NLT

Another of our readers said, “ When so much has been done for us … we also ought to try … to ‘satisfy his soul’. Our positive response is the gift we make in thankfulness and praise.”

How we can do this, is beautifully described by another reader in their contribution:

“I am a Christian because I love Jesus and he asks me to follow him. To love his Father with all my heart and being and to love the people I meet with kindness, compassion and empathy. I love Jesus because he gives my life purpose and hope for today and in the future.”

In coming months we will talk more about this purpose and hope, both for now and for the future.
