Why would you want to be a Christian?
Part 4
The question “Why are you a Christian?” was posed to members of our church. Some of the aspects of their answers have been given in Parts 1-3 of this series. Many people are convinced of the existence of God because of what they see in nature. One of our members stated the following:
“I am a Christian because I believe in God. The God that made the world and everything in it. I believe that God has total control over the whole world.”
Another wrote:
“One only has to look around to see what a marvellous world we live in. It cannot possibly have come into being by accident. The sheer diversity of plants, insects and animals as well as the extraordinary expanse of the universe is proof of its creation. The incredible intricacy of the human body and the interaction of everything within this creation are amazing.
It must have been created for a purpose. By reading the Bible we can begin to see that God does have a specific purpose for His creation and we are a large part of it.
I believe that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to tell us all about the Kingdom He has planned, and I look forward to being part of that Kingdom when He sends Jesus back to this earth.”
In next month’s Spiritual Reflection we shall look further at this hope for the future. We all need positive hope.
